Thanksgiving Feast

Thanksgiving was a blast this year.  Even though we were not able to travel home to visit family, Krista, Jonny and I had a wonderful time and made a feast worthy of a large family.  Thanksgiving Day, I got up at 6:40 in order to put our turkey into a crockpot at 7.  It barely fit in the crockpot, so we wrapped it in foil to keep the moisture in.  Then Jonny, Krista and I cooked until we ate at 4.  We made funeral potatoes, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, homemade potato rolls, corn, mashed potatoes, homemade stuffing, gravy, along with a store bought pumpkin pie for dessert.  Everything turned out wonderful!!

The wishbone was a little flimsy and bendable ... took awhile for it to finally break!

Later that week, Jonny and I went to feed the ducks the crusts of the bread that we used for our stuffing.  These ducks are not shy at all!!  My favorite place to put the bread was right on Jonny's shoe. It definitely kept us laughing.  It was a great end to the week before classes pick up again and before we know it, it is finals week.  It is always crazy how fast the semester goes, I am so glad that I got to spend it with Jonny though.

New Wanted ... and Unwanted Additions

This past week has been a little crazy but it is amazing how everything works out.  I am super excited because I have everything up on the walls (whether it actually has pictures in it or not is a little debatable) and we finally got our new keyboard!!!!  I am soo happy.

(I love our entertainment 'set', never thought we would own a TV, thanks to all my siblings who pitched in on a wonderful wedding present.  Love you guys!)

Then came the unwanted change to our apartment.  Thursday night, Jonny and I come home to find neither of our keys work.  Then low and behold, I notice our doorknob is now silver!!!  We are locked out of our apartment.  We decided to just drive somewhere to get dinner and worry about it later.  Well, our car was gone.  By about now I am feeling like I'm living an alternate reality.  So we check to make sure the neighbors were the same and thank goodness they were.  They had ordered a lock change and our apartment was changed instead.  SURPRISE!  So we were able to get into our house through their apartment.  Then came the search for the car.  Yup, gotta love Provo parking, it was towed.  A trip to the impound and $250 later we have our car, our apartment, and only ONE key to our house.

Celebration: picnic

Time to celebrate!  I finally unpacked the last box.  I didn't think it would take this long but it was crazy once school started.  It still is super busy.  But Jonny and I took the time to go to our picnic to use some of our camping stuff.  We absolutely loved it!

Pics. from right before we moved in.  I have to admit I was a little worried about making it a home.  But once we got things set up, I have really enjoyed it.

Do you like that spot on the floor?  It made us laugh, it is an iron burn mark ...

After!  ... and right before we went to the park so there are a couple of things out but I wanted to post these.

Best smore's ever.

also had to roast starbursts.

I also wanted to post this mormon message.  We watched it in Relief Society last week.  It really touched me.  I have a strong testimony of the selfless service of family and friends.  It has influenced my life in so many ways.

This is one of my favorite mormon messages.  I hope you enjoy!

The big day number 3!

The Oregon reception was absolutely wonderful as well.  Thanks again to our family and friends who put so much time and effort into a perfect night.  The reception hall was gorgeous and the food was wonderful!  We loved getting to see all those who came.  Honestly, it was a perfect end cap to the Wedding festivities.  Thank you for all the beautiful memories.

The beautiful view from the porch.

Honeymoon

Trip to Oregon!!  In between our two receptions, Jonny and I were able to travel to Oregon to enjoy the beautiful Gorge and beaches.  We absolutely loved it. We were there from Monday until Saturday (the day of the reception).  Then we spent Monday with my parents and sister at the tide pools.  Here are some of the highlights from the whole trip.

This was the first hike of the Gorge.  It was actually just following the creek through a beautiful canyon to Oneonta waterfall.  We both wore water shoes thankfully.  However, I wasn't quite prepared for just how far we would get in the freezing mountain water.  We both ended in up to our necks.  There was one point where the canyon narrowed a lot and it got really deep.  There was no other way :P  We had a blast (just really glad my camera didn't get wet).  A great way to start out th week.

Our cute little apartment.  It was perfect for the two nights we were there since we spent most of the time out and about doing hikes and whatnot.  We actually spent one of the days going white water rafting.  I can finally check it off my bucket list!  That was so much fun.  Jonny and I sat in the front of the raft the whole time.

We had a great time splurging on food during our trip.  So there are a lot of pictures of the great food we ate :)

Boston creme pie!

This is the Bridge of the Gods.  We would take this every day to get from our hotel/cabin in Washington over to the Oregon side to do hikes.

These are all from punch bowl falls.  That was another thing on my bucket list.  I have always loved this waterfall and I am super happy I got to go.  The little walk was beautiful and we went early in the morning so hardly anyone was there.  Absolutely loved all the experimentation we had with my camera as well.

In between the Gorge and beach we made it to the Portland, Oregon temple.  I absolutely loved this temple.  So glad we got the opportunity to go.

The wonderful beach house that the Oldham's let us use for three nights.  It was amazing here!!

we had to ...

If you look a little later (I will mention it there too) we came back at low tide and I walked out to the rock just to the left of that ginormous wave!  That was a lot of fun and actually really beautiful.

more food ... well, more like more dessert.

before (look at the cute heart Jonny made for me!)

after!!!  Oh my word, best pancake I have ever had

Here is that rock with the wave right next to it!  It was cool to see where the water came up through that little channel.

The largest sand dune you will ever see in your entire life.  Yes, it was a mountain, yes it was very difficult to walk all the way to the top.  Yes, those are little tiny cars parked on the beach (to give a reference of just how high we are)

All the fun we had jumping off a super steep jump!  Even though this picture doesn't show it, I did land this flip.  It is amazing how far you roll when you have that much momentum.

All of our desserts in one fantastic bowl of goodness.

These are the tide pools we went to with our family!

We also went for a little hike through what looked like Jurassic Park.  On the way home we had to stop at the Tillamook Cheese factory.  I love the ice cream from there!  Then we stopped at a local peach farm and picked some peaches for the ride home.  Boy were those good too!!  It was a great day with the family before we came to Provo.  I absolutely loved this trip.
